December Update!

I love these people!! Core has been such a blast with them this semester!

It's crazy how fast this semester has gone by! Last night, we had our last large group Thursday Night Fellowship of the semester and it was so encouraging to see so many people that we had met in August during Mav Stampede continue to come and grow so immensely in just a few short months! God is so good and he continues to be faithful in carrying out his work and allowing FOCUS to be a part of that!

Pizza Theology

Twice a year, all the FOCUS campuses come together for a really neat and special event. Pizza Theology is a time where students get the opportunity to dive deep into interesting topics that would be otherwise be hard to cover in the 30-40 minute sermons on Thursday nights. This years topic was exploring the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. The Sermon on the Mount is considered to be the most important sermon ever preached as it came straight from the mouth of Jesus and contains the core of his teachings. We had such a good turn out and so many students were left with so much to think about. Something that really convicted me while going through the Sermon on the Mount was Matthew 6:19-21 when Jesus is talks about the importance of storing up our treasures in Heaven. Something I have been currently evaluating in my life is on what do I place my value and worth and what kinds of things do I seek that only give me worldly satisfaction and not the fullness of life Jesus has to offer. It was such a good Pizza Theology and I can't wait until the next one!!!

Pizza Theology at UT Dallas
Outreach

Another exciting thing happening at UTA is outreach! Our theme this year is "Send Me" and we have been talking about what being a sent person on mission for God looks like, especially in a place like UTA where there is an overwhelming 40,000 students! Students have been actively participating in outreach on campus where we have had questions posted on a display board that allow students the opportunity to engage in conversations with their peers on campus. I was so encouraged to see students stepping out of their comfort zones and how willing college students are to engage in spiritual conversations. College is full of young adults who are seeking truth and purpose for their life  and I just see God so passionately pursing students at UTA.

We got to talk to so many students!!!
Keep FOCUS Growing

Finally, we have kick started our annual Keep FOCUS Growing fundraiser! While our campus pastors raise their own support, that does not provide for evangelistic events and materials, administrative costs, or the money to seize new opportunities that come up during the year. The extra investments from our annual fundraiser make sure that we are poised and ready for what God is doing on campuses around the DFW area. This is the fourth year we have done an annual fundraiser, and our goal is $50,000. You all have been so generous so far! I ask that you would continue to pray about giving in anyway to KFG! Your gift blesses this ministry and the students we serve so much!

You can give to KFG at:

Thank you for all of your love, support and encouragement!

With love,
Caitlin
